Way to go Christian

Today, (Sunday, January 20) was our first wrestling tournament of the season. We went to a beginner's open in Crawfordsville. Christian placed 1st in his group - Midget 80. We are very proud of him!

There were 12 wrestlers from the Danville Club that went and most placed! Our nephews went and they all placed - Jordan was 3rd, Keaton was 2nd, Cameron was 1st and Aidan was 1st. It was a good season opener.

When I figure out how to get the pictures off the camera and then onto the blog (at least I finally figured out how to put them on myspace and facebook) I'll try to post a few on here for those that only read the blog.

We wonder why our judicial system doesn't work?

This really made me mad!

There's my rant for the day. I'm not going to say anything I will regret later.

Children Making a Difference

Yesterday we had a program at the Children's Museum. It was great, especially our version of the Mars Rover we made and then ate for dessert later. However, that's not what I am going to talk about.

We went a few hours early just to spend a little bit of time at the museum before our class. There is a new section called "The Power of Children: Making a Difference." It basically follows the lives of 3 children who helped make a difference. It has Anne Frank, Ryan White, and Ruby Bridges. The boys really learned a lot in there yesterday. (I still have some questions I have to answer that I put off such as "how else do you get AIDS?" "what 'N' word are they talking about?" and a few others).

Today one of their friends is over and Christian and Joshua asked Parker if he knew any of these above mentioned kids. He didn't so they sat him down and explain who they were and what they did to him. It was very cute! I was impressed at how much they did learn yesterday. However, Christian seems to think that Ryan White didn't have enough blood so they had to give him more, :) but it's a start.

The museum has a wall for Indiana children that have made some sort of difference. It is very cool to see the interviews and find out what kids come up with to make a difference.

One of the volunteers was talking with Emma and Christian (Joshua was doing something on one of the computers at the time) asking them what they thought they could do that might make a difference in peoples lives. Christian's response - "spend time with them" and Emma's response - "say prayers for them".

I am so thankful that our kids are getting it!

Maybe, one day, my kids might be on that wall - who knows? However, I am just excited to know that they seem to understand the small and FREE things you can do to make a difference.

Here is the link to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. It is so cool! You really should come to Indy just to visit the museum. Look us up if you decide to come!

Doodle Bops

For those of you who don't have little kids, this won't mean anything to you so you might as well skip right over it.

On Sunday our neighbor called. Her son is friends with Joshua and Christian. Long story short: her 17 year old daughter was going to the Doodle Bops concert downtown with some relatives. She wanted to take a "little one" so she didn't feel too strange about going to a kid concert. They wanted to "borrow" Emma for the concert. We let Emma go. She loved it! Apparently she was very cute about the whole thing. I'm glad she got to go. But I must admit that I am a little sad that I didn't get to take her.

So How Did I Do?

Here is my blog from 2007 about my resolutions. How did I do?

It is hard to believe that 2007 is now here. Each year seems to go faster and faster. I know that doesn't really happen but it sure does seem that way.

Last year I started with a few resolutions. I did all right. I have to make some and strive toward them. So here they are, in no particular order:

- lose more weight (25 would be good, 30 would be great, and 35 would be awesome!); I lost 25 but put on 4.
- continue exercising - don't really like it but my attitude has gotten better about the "E" word and I feel better after I do it; I did great September to November and have started back up again.
- read the bible daily - even if it is only a verse or 2; HORRIBLE!
- be better organized for home schooling (that in turn will help with keeping the house cleaned up better); This was a better one for me even though I am a horrible housekeeper!
- keep doing little surprises for Tim (That was really fun last year and I think he enjoyed them also .) This is now a lifestyle for me. It's fun for both of us!

These are enough to last the year. If I make any more I will not be able to do them.

Please try to hold me accountable for these things. All these will make me better!

I hope you are all having a good new year! God bless!

Until next time....

Overall, I guess I didn't do too badly. I've been trying to figure out what I need to do for this year. Keep your eyes out because that will be coming shortly

I think God is speaking

On the way home from lunch today I said to Tim, "I had a dream last night" hoping he would ask what it was about. His response, "I did too, bet it wasn't the same," with a big grin on his face. I was almost afraid to ask but I did.

Me: "You tell me yours first"

Tim: "We were on the Reservation. I had been working with some of the kids. I then started talking to Ken about some of the things going on. There were some other things too but they were all about the Reservation."

Me: "Well, they were sort of the same."

Tim: "Really?"

Me: "My dream was about us living on the Pine Ridge Reservation (which is located right next to Crow Creek, where Tim does all his work). We were working with the Diamond Willow (Crow Creek) people closely trying to establish a church at Pine Ridge and programs that were working with Diamond Willow."

I think God is speaking to us!

The Manley Quints

I blogged earlier about our boys making blankets for friends of ours, the Manleys, who recently had quints. Here is an article written in the Indy Star about them.

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008301050001

I started reading all the comments listed below the article - most of them really made me mad! Tim told me to quit reading them. I really wish there were not comment spaces available for this.

I have been praying for the Manleys and will continue to do so, not because they had quints but because they are Godly people trying to raise Godly children in an ungodly world. I hope that others are doing the same for me.

Gone Forever!

I am super bummed tonight. Our computer fritzed - big time on us! Tim said that the noise coming from it was not good. We lost documents stored on one of our drives. Guess what most of those were....pictures! We have lost over a years worth of pictures! I am truly bummed!

No thanksgiving, no Halloween, no birthday parties, no sports, no mission trip, no visitors from the summer, nothing since October/November 2006!

I am a scrapbooker so I have already planned the pages for these events: Sorry kids, the computer ate your pictures!

I do have a few on facebook and myspace but I doubt the quality will be good enough to print.

Leave it to Tim to look on the bright side (he actually did say this), "it could be a lot worse, we could have lost them all" - true but that doesn't bring back the ones gone "you won't have as much to scrapbook now"

So any of you out there that have been around us and we took pictures during those times, could you please send us some of them?

I haven't even asked to see what else what was lost, I was too focused on my pictures - or really my lack thereof.

Monday's Child

Years ago my aunt and uncle decided to adopt a family of 5 and later added 1 more. Here is a story that ran about them here recently. I just thought I would share it with you.
