Children Making a Difference

Yesterday we had a program at the Children's Museum. It was great, especially our version of the Mars Rover we made and then ate for dessert later. However, that's not what I am going to talk about.

We went a few hours early just to spend a little bit of time at the museum before our class. There is a new section called "The Power of Children: Making a Difference." It basically follows the lives of 3 children who helped make a difference. It has Anne Frank, Ryan White, and Ruby Bridges. The boys really learned a lot in there yesterday. (I still have some questions I have to answer that I put off such as "how else do you get AIDS?" "what 'N' word are they talking about?" and a few others).

Today one of their friends is over and Christian and Joshua asked Parker if he knew any of these above mentioned kids. He didn't so they sat him down and explain who they were and what they did to him. It was very cute! I was impressed at how much they did learn yesterday. However, Christian seems to think that Ryan White didn't have enough blood so they had to give him more, :) but it's a start.

The museum has a wall for Indiana children that have made some sort of difference. It is very cool to see the interviews and find out what kids come up with to make a difference.

One of the volunteers was talking with Emma and Christian (Joshua was doing something on one of the computers at the time) asking them what they thought they could do that might make a difference in peoples lives. Christian's response - "spend time with them" and Emma's response - "say prayers for them".

I am so thankful that our kids are getting it!

Maybe, one day, my kids might be on that wall - who knows? However, I am just excited to know that they seem to understand the small and FREE things you can do to make a difference.

Here is the link to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. It is so cool! You really should come to Indy just to visit the museum. Look us up if you decide to come!
